Add a passkey

Add a passkey to use your device's secure unlock instead of relying on text messages for each sign-in.

Add the key

  1. Sign in using a working method.
  2. Open the profile menu's Sign-in & security, or Settings → Security.
  3. Choose Add a passkey in the passkey area.
  4. Complete a fresh security check if requested.
  5. Follow your browser or device prompt to create the passkey.
  6. Check the new key is listed before signing out to try it.

Cancelling the device prompt does not create a key. Adding one does not automatically remove Google, Apple or your verified mobile.

Keep a recovery route

Store your recovery codes privately and separately from your device. Before removing a method, make sure you retain another verified security method.

Use the separate provider-linking controls for Google or Apple. A matching email address alone does not authorise linking or merging identities.

If all sign-in methods and recovery codes are unavailable, use the recovery/support option on the sign-in screen. Support must still verify access; never share a code with anyone claiming to help.
